EMPLOYMENT EQUITY POLICY

Mont Consulting Engineers is fundamentally committed to the principle of employment equity. We therefore align ourselves with all the Government guidelines as reflected, inter alia in the Employment Equity Bill, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Skills Development Act and the guidelines of the International labour organization. We also promote equality in the gender, disability and economic development and efficiency of staff through recruitment, training and development policies. Each year we prepare and implement a plan to achieve employment equity, which will have objectives for all the organisational departments. The plan assists with internal monitoring and evaluation procedures, including internal dispute resolution mechanisms, and identify persons, including senior managers, to monitor and implement the plan.

This allows for effective participation and development opportunities for directors, management and staff members at all levels thus enhancing their skills and human development in both the technical and nontechnical field. EDUCATION AND TRAINING

As the company continues to grow, we continue to implement individual training programmes for the employees as part of Skills Development. This ensures our commitment for the vision of community development while improving lives of all mankind. The education committee formulates career development programmes for entry level, middle and senior management. These programmes include technical, marketing management, interpersonal and basic training courses. Employees are also assisted with funding in case they need to further their studies. Mentorship programmes are also formulated to guide those who have passed the training programmes.

AFFIRMATIVE ACTION AND SKILLS TRANSFER

Mont Consulting Engineers is committed to providing assistance to Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) using monetary and non-monetary contributions. The beneficiary base for these contributions is predominantly black since we are living in a predominantly black community. In selecting our beneficiary we look for suitable candidates and organisations from within the communities we service. Our contributions are made looking at the needs of the organisation; we believe in making positive change in the community hence we continue to make the contributions to the different organisations so that people can also have better living conditions no matter the circumstances they find themselves in.

SOCIO-ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

We have a team that is highly experienced in Civil Engineering, Project Management and Consulting services. For that reason we are committed to skills transfer to those that require the empowerment; we are able to help young professionals get the best experience they need to succeed in the field of civil engineering. We expose them to all the activities that are necessary in order for them to learn. Junior staff members are groomed by the senior management so that they may also be able to learn more about their designations and job descriptions so that they become eligible for future promotions in the company.

Mont Consulting Engineers’ safety, health and environmental (SHE) policy is committed to zero tolerance towards people, communities and environment. The management will provide and maintain a safe and healthy work environment, in accordance with Occupational Health and Safety Act and all other legislative requirements, and will strive to eliminate any foreseeable hazards which may result in property damage, accidents, or personal injury/illness. We are committed to conducting business in an environmentally responsible manner.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

Mont Consulting Engineers aim is to ensure that the needs of our customers are clearly understood and met through close liaison at all stages of the work. Ultimate responsibility within the company rests with the Board of Directors; who are responsible for all matters pertaining to the Quality System. The company’s Quality Policy calls for continual improvement in its quality management activities. To supply our customers with the products and services they require we have developed a Quality Management System that satisfies the requirements of ISO 9001.
